POWER TO THE FISHERS

CERATH Development Organization had a two-day in-house training to build the Power to the Fishers Project (PTF) project team’s capacity on Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA). This was to equip the project team with the needed capacity and techniques for the formation and management of VSLAs. This contributes to the provision of social protection services (savings and credit) to beneficiaries of the PTF project.

The trainer took the project team through the tenets of VSLA, its potential for livelihoods, as well as the procedures for forming the VSLAs. The PTF project team were also trained on the modules of VSLA, which include the election of group leadership, development of policies and group constitution, meeting routines, and share-out protocols. At the end of the training, the project team had a role-play session to simulate the entire process.
